Tuesday 17 January - Initiative Social Quiz
7.30pm - The King's Arms, Market Hill, Saffron Walden
Join us for 'Around Walden and Beyond', a quiz night challenging you to pit your wits against other teams in the arena of local and general knowledge, and also providing an opportunity to socialise. Come with a team (maximum 6) or join one when you arrive. £6 a head to include a fish and chip supper. Given notice, an alternative to fish and chips can be provided. As places are limited, we are offering Initiative members an opportunity to sign up first, before publicising it more widely in the town from 7 January. Tuesday 7 February - Visit to the Palace of Westminster
10.20am for 10.30 start - Meet up at the Cromwell Green Entrance by St. Stephens
Following a very successful visit in 2007 our MP, Sir Alan Haslehurst, has kindly agreed to organise a second tour of the Palace of Westminster for Initiative members and to act as a guide. After lunch there will be an optional visit to the Churchill War Rooms, dedicated to the life of Sir Winston Churchill, and the secret underground headquarters that were the nerve centre of Britain’s war effort. Group rates: £12 or £10.50 if a senior. If you are joining the visit, you are free to make your own way to the Houses of Parliament. However, if you wish to join others on the train and underground, details will be provided in the New Year. Sunday 22 April - King's College Evensong & Punting
3.00pm - Meet at King’s College porter’s lodge, King’s Parade, Cambridge
A chance to hear King’s College choir at close quarters from the choir stalls of the Chapel, followed by a chauffeured punting trip along the Backs, with commentary. Cost £5 per person.

Sunday 20 May - Three Churches Trail
2.30pm - Meet at the Common Car Park to share cars and give lifts
A chance to learn more about three of our village churches with the Blue Badge Guide Rosanne Kirkpatrick. The churches are likely to be Ickleton, Strethall and Littlebury.
