6.15pm departure in shared cars from the Common Car Park, Saffron Walden
Shadwell Wood near to Ashdon is a Local Nature Reserve famous for its oxlips (a nationally rare species). Ray Tabor of the Essex Wildlife Trust will be leading a walk which will take around 45 minutes. There is very limited parking at Shadwell Wood so we are asked to share cars. If you drive, please bring your car to the Common Car Park and then we will try to fit everyone into as few cars as possible.

Wednesday 2 July 2008 - Visit and Talk at Prior's Hall Barn, Widdington
7.15pm Common Car Park for 7.30pm start at Prior's Hall Bar
Prior's Hall Barn, Widdington, is one of the finest surviving medieval barns in eastern England and little-known treasure of the Saffron Walden area. The product of some 400 oaks, it has been ring-dated to the mid-15th century and has a breath-taking aisled interior and crown post roof. To bring it to life, Julian Swift, an award-winning specialist in the restoration and conversion of historic oak structures, will be giving an illustrated talk within the barn, in which he will explain the development of oak-framing techniques and display some of the traditional tools that he still uses in his restoration work. If you drive, please bring your car to the Common Car Park by 7.15pm and we will car share from there.

Our fifth Dance in the Square on an August Bank Holiday Saturday - this time rock and pop dance music from CRIMSON SHADOW band.
