LATE NIGHT SHOPPING SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL
Saffron Walden Late Night Shopping on the evening of Friday 3rd December 2021 was a safe, successful and enjoyable event. In a return to the well-loved local tradition, many shops and businesses made the most of the opportunity to open their doors ’til late and market stalls purveying seasonal goodies were welcomed to the town. A host of buskers and other musicians helped entertain the crowds, thanks to Jacqui Portway of Saffron Walden Initiative. Even the weather was benign, despite the forecasts.
Patrick Hawke-Smith, who helped organise the charity stalls along King Street on behalf of the Initiative, said: “It was wonderful to welcome back Late Night Shopping. The charities and community groups which took part raised the spirits with their festive fun and games, food and drink, and advice and awareness. Their services are needed more than ever, so it was great to have the chance to promote them. Many thanks to the ever helpful Town Council team and of course to everyone who turned out to support the event.”
